take a breather

We should all remind ourselves to become aware of our breath every day.

Were you holding your breath? I often notice that I am, so the chances are you were as well. You just took a conscious breath now, didn't you? That's because of your awareness of it naturally corrected your breathing. Isn't it fascinating, there's no need to force your breath, when you are aware of it, it just happens.

We know every part of your body needs oxygen to survive; even thinking and that most people take short, shallow breaths into their chest and this can make you feel anxious and kill your energy.

Studies say that without knowing it you might be damaging your digestion, heart, nervous system, muscles, brain, sleep and mood. But this also means that by acknowledging a proper breathing pattern we can start to correct the damages simply by paying attention to it.

Your abdomen area should expand with each inhalation and contract with each exhalation, feel your ribs expand to the front, sides, and back with each inhalation.

We should all remind ourselves to become aware of our breath every day. Not every breath but every day. Set a time or an action to remind yourself to stop and check your breathing; formulate a method that suits your daily life; after every phone call or when get in your car, before getting out of bed each morning or even after having sex, take a second and acknowledge your breathing.

The important thing is you pause and adjust your breathing pattern several times a day. Make it a habit.

Every day take a moment to enjoy your own company, appreciate your body and be thankful for your health. R E L A X. Your jaw. Your neck. Your shoulders. Your whole body. Take a deep breath. That’s it.
