The Case for Staying Exactly the Same

Hey you,
I was thinking about you today. We’re eleven days into January, and I’m checking in because this is usually right about the time when the "New Year, New Me" sparkle starts to fade. By now, most of those loud resolutions people made at midnight on the 1st have started to feel less like exciting goals and more like heavy chores.
So, if that makes you feel a little tired or like you're already behind, I’m here to give a firm "no thank you" to that whole mindset.
As many of you who have been here for a while know, I’ve never been a resolution person. I’m still a firm believer in the "one guiding word" approach we’ve talked about before. It’s been my anchor for years.
But this year, I felt like I needed to say something more: the word isn't a goal to reach; it’s just a way to be.
Even with a guiding word, there is so much pressure to "evolve." But my big "Anti-Resolution" for 2026 is to remind you (and myself) that you don’t need an overhaul. You don’t need to be "new." You survived another year, you learned, and you’re here. That version of you from December? They are pretty great. Let’s bring them along into January exactly as they are.
If you’re picking a word this year, let it be a soft place to land, not another thing to "achieve."
Give yourself permission to just be the person you already are, because it’s a pretty darn good person to be.
Sending you so much warmth,
Sarah
